Make Your Keyboard LED Lights Disco Dance!

o you want to see your keyboard lights play disco? Yes, you heard that right! You can make your keyboard LEDs dance, with a simple Visual Basic script. Now, without much ado, let me give you the script.

Copy the following script into a notepad. Then save that file with an extension “.vbs”. Now click on the new file with a script like icon. You see the magic! I am sure you will enjoy seeing them. Here are the codes you need to paste:

This code makes the LEDs to dance randomly.

Set wshShell =wscript.CreateObject("WScript.Shell")

do
wscript.sleep 100
wshshell.sendkeys "{CAPSLOCK}"
wshshell.sendkeys "{NUMLOCK}"
wshshell.sendkeys "{SCROLLLOCK}"
loop

This code makes the LEDs to dance in a regular manner.

Set wshShell =wscript.CreateObject("WScript.Shell")
do
wscript.sleep 200
wshshell.sendkeys "{CAPSLOCK}"
wscript.sleep 100
wshshell.sendkeys "{NUMLOCK}"
wscript.sleep 50
wshshell.sendkeys "{SCROLLLOCK}"
loop

To end this disco, you need to end a process called “wscript.exe”. For best results, keep all the LEDs “Off” before starting the script.

How to Rename a Series of Files

When you download photos from your digital camera, they often have unrecognizable names. You can rename several similar files at once with the following procedure. This also works for renaming other types of files.

1.Open the My Pictures folder. (Click Start, and then click My Pictures.) Or open another folder containing files that you want to rename.
2.Select the files you want to rename. If the files you want are not adjacent in the file list, press and hold CTRL, and then click each item to select it.
3.On the File menu, click Rename.
4.Type the new name, and then press ENTER.

All of the files in the series will be named in sequence using the new name you type. For example, if you type Birthday, the first will be named Birthday and subsequent files in the series will be named Birthday (1), Birthday (2), and so on. To specify the starting number for the series, type the starting number in parentheses after the new file name. The files in the series will be numbered in sequence starting with the number you type. For example, if you type Birthday (10), the other files will be named Birthday (11), Birthday (12), and so on.

How to find the IP address of the email sender

When you receive an email, you receive more than just the message. The email comes with headers that carry important information that can tell where the email was sent from and possibly who sent it. For that, you would need to find the IP address of the sender. The thread can help you find the IP address of the sender.
Note that this will not work if the sender uses anonymous proxy servers.
Also, note that if you receive an email sent from a ***** account through the web browser, you may not be able to find the real IP address because Google hides the real IP address of the sender. However, if someone sends you a mail from his/her ***** account using a client like Thunderbird, Outlook or Apple Mail, you can find the originating IP address.
Let us begin this. First of all, the IP address is generally found in the headers enclosed between square brackets, for instance, [129.130.1.1]

Finding IP address in *****
1. Log into your ***** account with your username and password.
2. Open the mail.
3. To display the email headers, Click on the inverted triangle beside Reply. Select Show Original.
4. Look for Received: from followed by the IP address between square brackets [ ].
Quote:
Received: from [69.138.30.1] by web31804.mail.mud.**********
5. If you find more than one Received: from patterns, select the last one.
6. Track the IP address of the sender using any IP tracker

Finding IP address in *****! Mail
1. Log into your *****! mail with your username and password.
2. Click on Inbox or whichever folder you have stored your mail.
3. Click on the Subject of the email you want to track and right-click. Select View Full Headers from the pop-up menu
4. Look for Received: from followed by the IP address between square brackets [ ]. That should most likely be the IP address of the sender.
5. If there are many instances of Received: from with the IP address, select the IP address in the last pattern. If there are no instances of Received: from with the IP address, select the first IP address in X-Originating-IP.
6. Track the IP address of the sender using any IP tracker

Finding IP address in *******
******* has been integrated with Windows Live, or vice-versa. And the format has changed. Here is how you find the IP address of the sender.
1. Log into your *******/Windows Live account with your username and password.
2. Click on the Inbox link on the left.
3. Under the column that says "Sort by", find the email that you want to track and right-click on it. You should get a menu that has something like Mark as read, Mark as unread, and so on. The last option in the menu should be View message source. Select it. You should see the email headers now.
4. If you find a header with X-Originating-IP: followed by an IP address, that is the sender's IP address
5. If that doesn't work, look for Received: from followed by IP address within square brackets[].
6. * If you have multiple Received: from headers, eliminate the ones that have proxy.anyknownserver.com.
7. Track the IP address of the sender using any IP tracker

Finding IP address in AOL
1. Log into your AOL Mail AIM account with your username and password.
2. Open the email that you want to track.
3. On the top row, click on Action and in the drop-down menu, select View Message Source
4. It opens a new page with the headers. Once you have the headers, look for the IP address that follows X-AOL-IP:. That should be the IP address of the sender.
5. Track the IP address of the sender using any IP tracker

How To Increase Download Speeds in Mozilla Firefox

Mozilla Firefox is configured by default for dial-up speeds. If you have high speed internet access such as DSL or cable, you can change a few settings in Firefox and increase your download speeds. If you change the number of connections that Firefox uses to download, you will see a dramatic increase in your bandwidth. The larger the file you are downloading, the greater the speed will be, because more connections can be made to the server.
1. Change Mozilla Firefox connection setting by typing "about:config" in the address bar of Mozilla Firefox.

2. In the "Filter:" bar, type "persistent"

3. You should now see two preference names with their values:

network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-proxy user set interger 4
network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-server user set interger 2

4. Double click on each of the preference names. A window will pop-up allowing you to change the values for each. If you have cable or DSL use a number between 20 and 30!. Click OK.

5.Restart Firefox and you will be able to download more files simultaneously and each file a lot faster.

How to Create a bootable USB drive

I had to search all over for this information, so I stole a little here, borrowed a little there, and made up what I couldn't find, to get it all in one place.
Hopefully, this will save everyone some time.

First, this is PE version 2.0, and earlier versions will not work. I do not/will not work with BartPE, so I haven't a clue what needs to be done in that environment.

Your USB and the port it is using must be USB 2.0. I don't know if USB 1.0 will work slowly, or not at all.

I'm assuming you've created a bootable PE Version 2.0 CD.
I used the drive letters that my computer assigned to the devices. Yours may be different.
C:=local hard drive
D:=CD/DVD drive
E:=USB Thumb drive
X:=PE's RAM disk

You need to assure that you select the proper disks, as you will be erasing and formatting the thumb drive. I will not be responsible for any data loss or woes you encounter!

You'll need MagicISO, to extract all folders and files (including hidden files) from your CD to a file on your C: drive (I used c:\bootusb)
(You probably already have these files in a folder, somewhere... you needed to use them to create the ISO. If not, extract them before you boot the PE CD).

Boot your PE version 2.0 CD
type these commands:
disk part
select disk 1 (this was my USB drive. type in "detail disk" to be sure you've selected the USB drive)
clean (you are erasing the selected disk. I hope you got it right!)
create partition primary
select partition 1
active
format fs=fat32 (this takes a while)
assign
exit

You're now back at the command prompt, and need to copy the files from the folder you created on your hard drive to the USB drive.
xcopy c:\bootusb\*.* e: /h /e (this also takes a while)

You can't copy the files from the RAM drive, as they're in use by PE
I don't think (but haven't tried) you can copy them from the CD, as they're compressed... (?)

Good luck, and I hope to have saved someone a bit of trouble figuring this out.

3 things Microsoft cannot explain

Many of you might be knowing this, but thought it worth sharing!

3 things Microsoft cannot explain

Do it yourself, Then you will get to know...

#1

An Indian found that nobody can create a FOLDER anywhere on the computer which can be named as "CON". This is something funny and inexplicable. At Microsoft the whole Team, couldn't answer why this happened!

TRY IT NOW, IT WILL NOT CREATE A "CON" FOLDER !

#2

For those of you using Windows (except windows 7 & Vista), do the following:

1. Open an empty notepad file

2. Type "Bush hid the facts" (without the quotes)

3. Save it as whatever you want.

4. Close it, and re-open it.

Notice the weird bug? No one can explain why this happens.

#3

Again this is something funny and can't be explained. It was discovered by a Brazilian. Try it out yourself.

Open Microsoft Word and type

=rand (200, 99)

And then press ENTER

And see the magic.
